Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) is a session in a chamber pressurized above normal atmospheric pressure while you breathe concentrated oxygen. The added pressure dissolves substantially more oxygen into your blood than breathing at sea level. At OxyRenew in Los Angeles, every session runs in a private hard-shell chamber at up to 2.0 ATA, monitored by a Certified Hyperbaric Technician.

How Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Works

At normal pressure, nearly all of the oxygen in your blood travels bound to hemoglobin, and hemoglobin is already near its ceiling from ordinary breathing. The amount of oxygen that dissolves in blood plasma is governed by Henry's law: the more pressure a gas is under, the more of it dissolves in a liquid.

Plasma has no ceiling the way hemoglobin does, so raising the pressure inside the chamber keeps forcing more oxygen into it. Pressurizing to 2.0 ATA while you breathe concentrated oxygen through a mask or cannula raises that dissolved fraction well above what breathing oxygen at normal pressure can achieve.

Clinical studies have examined how this added oxygen interacts with new blood vessel formation (angiogenesis), the body's inflammatory response, and tissue repair. Findings vary by protocol and sample size, and much of the evidence is preliminary.

The Chamber

Hard-shell, 2.0 ATA

Our chamber is a hard-shell unit that reaches 2.0 ATA. Soft-shell chambers, common elsewhere, typically operate near 1.3 ATA and dissolve less oxygen into plasma.

Safely pressurized with air

The chamber is pressurized with normal air while you breathe concentrated oxygen through a mask or cannula. This is why you can safely use your phone, tablet, or laptop during a session.

Private sessions

Your session runs in a private space. A Certified Hyperbaric Technician monitors it from start to finish.

What to Expect

Before your first session

Every client completes a safety screening before their first session. No doctor's referral is needed, and we encourage you to consult your physician before starting any new therapy.

On the day of each session

Arrive in comfortable cotton clothing. We check your vitals, then guide you into the chamber. Recline, stream your favorite show, or work while you breathe concentrated oxygen.

After each session

Many clients tell us they leave feeling rested, clear-headed, and more energized.

Sessions and Pricing

Sessions are 60, 90, or 120 minutes, starting from $240. Packages of 3, 6, 10, or 20 sessions lower the per-session price by up to 25%.

Safety and Screening

Every client is screened before their first session for the conditions that make HBOT unsuitable, and a Certified Hyperbaric Technician monitors every session. Our safety page covers the risks we screen for and how we manage them.

What Clients Book HBOT For

Clients come to OxyRenew for recovery after elective surgery, athletic recovery, skin and energy goals, and general wellness. Our benefits pages cover what studies have reported in each area.
